Update from Gunnison County Commissioners

Close to 1,700 citizens have signed a petition to urge Gunnison County Commissioners to revise the current building regulations to limit large-scale development that will forever change the future of our valley.

You spoke, and the Board of Gunnison County Commissioners and Community Development listened!

Changes to the current building regulations are being considered and discussed July 9 at the Gunnison County Planning Commission meeting.

We will be there to represent you! At that meeting, we will request that the Gunnison County Planning Commission reforms regulations to make building in a 100-year flood plain a “Major Impact.” This new designation of “major impact” will ensure development along the Slate River valley floor will be subject to the highest scrutiny by Gunnison County Community Development, the Gunnison County Planning Commission, water and wildlife experts — and you the public. This is our chance to make our voice heard!

Check back here for updates after the meeting and feel free to send us a message to share via the petition comments or the '“Contact Us” form below.
